Messenger's note:

The Chronicles is a series that I have been writing for years, but only for a while putting them into a blog, it has influences from books, anime, comics, and even the music I listen to.

The names of the places in this story may or not be real, but this is fiction, and the story is set in an alternate ambiance, so don't expect total accuracy.

I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do when I write it, even if I take too long to update! xD

Chapters V--VI

Chapter V: Requiem for a Dream.

He paced in the room softly, cigarette in one hand and his phone on the other, Richard dialed as he smoked a bit of his cigarette, He then sat on a nearby chair, listening to the ringing tone on the other end of his call as he smoked some more of his cigarette.

He waited and waited and no one picked up his call, he sighed in frustration and dialed again. No one answered, no one would, not again.

-“I find myself doing this out of habit Set…” he said softly as a tear slid down his face. “Maybe I just can’t really believe you are gone…” he said as he closed his phone.

It was the year 20-06, 3rd year after the battle with Demian du Lancret and the Koba Team still mourned their lost ones, they still cried and remembered how they touched their lives, they still remembered how they died.

Richard mourned the loss of Setsuna, his friend and aid, his love and fantasy, Richard was mourning for his heart and peace of mind.

Witold walked slowly toward Richard, Richard looked up and put away his phone, and smiled sadly.

-“Evening Witek, are Nessa and Yevgeny ok?” Richard asked as Witold came closer to him and sat on a chair by his side.

-“Yevgeny is alright, I have healed his wounds fully, Alex and Joe did a good job patching him up. Nessa’s wounds were more deep, but I healed them… it will take her a bit to walk without pain though…” he sighed and passed a hand through his hair as he usually did when he was worried or nervous.

-“You can tell me what is wrong…if you don’t tell me I will find it out on Intel sooner or later” Richard said taking out a cigarette and lighting it up.

-“It wasn’t a mere battle…they were in for the kill, he wanted them both dead…”
-“They are not safe anymore…” Richard said smoking a bit of his cigarette.

-“That is what I was afraid of, up to what point Nessa and Yevegny can hold on in these random battles? “

-“Joe and Alex can take care of Yevgeny without any problems, what I’m worried about is Nessa, she won’t like a “bodyguard” she will put up a fight.”

-“I’ll be Nessa’s guard…” Witold said softly but determined.

Richard chuckled a little, and sighed nostalgically.

-“Like old times?” Richard said smoking a bit of his cigarette.

-“As it should be (he looked away) as it always should have been…”

-“You had to leave, stop punishing yourself for stuff you can’t control mate…she doesn’t hate you for it, in fact she never hated you, I think she was just…sad I think…”
he said putting away his cigarette.

-“I know, but I left her without notice, I should have said goodbye…I just left and… everything that she went through on her own…She mourned Charles Daniel and Setsuna…I just added more to that…”

-“We all still mourn them Witold…it is all part of the process of moving forward I believe…although some of us chose not to…”

-“You still call her?” he said looking at him puzzled.

-“I always will, same time everyday…same time everyday mate”

-“Don’t you wish sometimes to turn back time? I know I’m being naive for thinking about those kind of things…but I can’t help but wonder sometimes…” Witold whispered.

-“Sometimes…and if I could, I would tell Setsuna how I felt, how I feel...everyday. Life is short Witek, we all are in borrowed bodies, borrowed time, borrowed space in this world…we must not hold anything back, we must do and say what we feel in order to be free of guilt when the time comes…for us and the people we care about…we are what we say and do…at least most of the time.”

-“It is said that death is not the end…that is a new beginning of life…a new step…do you feel that way? (Witold asked softly) maybe that thought keeps me sane and full of hope, so I can help Nessa…”

-“No, I don’t, it has been 3 years that Setsuna died, and I don’t feel like this is a new step in life…I feel my life ending little by little, that I’m being consumed by my memories and feelings that I don’t have a real reason to live except keeping you guys here alive (he smiled sadly toward Witold) when Setsuna died, I died along with her…but I have a job to do here and while I’m needed and able, I’ll do it.” He said putting his cigarette away and looking up to the ceiling.

-“But…Richard…you just can’t keep going on like this…(passes a hand through his head) What would I know?…I live in guilt…”

-“The usual speech about being young and that I should be moving on?” he said looking for another cigarette while giving a soft chuckle.

-“I suppose it is in order…considering…”

-“No speeches can change my mind…(he said quickly, interrupting Witold) I wanted to live my life with Setsuna, that was gonna be the rest of my life…I have almost nothing left Witek, so please don’t talk to me about how life is going on…I have received counseling…and yes…you shouldn’t talk much about the subject…you live in guilt and remorse for leaving Nessa, yet you just came back and I don’t see a single act of moving on from your part…how long is it gonna take for you to act?”

-“Richard…don’t…”

-“Until another near death experience? How long do you think will be before Nessa fights again? And giving her current condition, do you think she will last enough for you to say you love her?” Richard said smoking a bit of his cigarette, looking at the sky, with a serious tone of his voice.

Richard sighed in frustration.

-"The Dreamweaver and you are the same, you both love her, yet do nothing. You have to stop feeling guilty about Charles Daniel and just grab her and kiss her, protect her not only because you are her friend but because you love her beyond this world…do it because you want to and feel it, not because you feel guilty she got attacked and you weren’t there…”

-“Back in those days she would have accepted me maybe...but will she accept me now?”

-“She never turned you down as far as I'm concerned mate…you just never went for it, you never tried…”

_____End of part I________

Nessa awoke slowly from her slumber, it seemed like she had slept for days, Alex laid by her side, hugging her slightly, as a child would hug his mother.

She smiled and caressed his hair gently, she then tried to sit up on the bed without waking him up, but her wounds, still fresh, hurt and she winced a little suppressing a whimper.

Alex stirred slightly and opened his eyes slowly to see Nessa trying to sit on the bed.

-“Mamma! sorry…let me help you…” he said hurriedly as he helped her sit on the bed.

-“Thank you Alex…it’s ok…”

-“Ne, how are you feeling Nessa? Do you need anything? I can go get you something really fast…I have to call Pop Witold…he told me to tell him the precise moment when you finally woke up…” he said running around the room

-“Lex…it’s ok…I’m ok I don’t need anything…lie down here with me…”

-“But, but, he told me to…”

-“He is probably busy Lex…please…”

-“Ok Nessa…” he said smiling and lying back down on the bed with her.

He began talking about his day at school, what he wanted to do on the weekend, what games he played and what music he listened to, Alex was behaving like he hadn’t seen Nessa in ages, as if Nessa had risen from the dead, he spoke for what seemed hours until he fell asleep again with a smile on his face.

This brought tears to Nessa’s eyes, Alex was like her son, he had lived during the war with Demian, lived and fought with them, and she didn’t want him to fight again.

The door opened slowly as Witold came in with a tray with a cup of tea and some food items. He smiled softly at the picture Nessa and Alex made. Nessa smiled softly as she saw him come into the room.

-“Hi... (He said softly) I brought you something to eat, you must be hungry, how are you feeling?” he said putting the tray on the nearby table.

-“I’m doing well, a bit of pain, but I’m ok…you didn’t have to do all this, I could have got it, or Alex…” She said blushing a little at his use of the nickname.

-“It is not a problem, besides, Alex is fast asleep…I’m going to check your wounds, do you mind me moving Alex to his room?”

-“No…I don’t mind, but try not to wake him” she looked at Alex sadly; Witold nodded slightly and picked Alex in his arms and took him to his room.

______End of part II_____

Yevgeny strolled down the streets of Juuban, he was talking softly to himself as if having a deep conversation with his soul, not caring for the looks the people gave him as he passed by, and he walked and walked until he found his destination, Henry’s café.

He walked in and sat on the stool on the bar and ordered some tea. He looked at the piled bottles in front of him and around at the patrons having a good time inside the place. Henry shook his hand as he greeted him as Yevgeny gave a small smile.

-“How’s it going young one?” Harry asked happily.

-“Fine I suppose” Yevgeny answered smiling slightly.

-“You seem troubled…”

-“Let’s say I have had an interesting week, but tell me about you Harry? How is business?”

-“Good as they can be
(smile) by the way I’m booking some bands for this weekend, be sure to tell the rest of the gang”

-“I’ll be sure to remember that.” He said with a smile. "Has Joe hasn’t been here today?”

-“Nope, of the gang, just you” Harry said pouring some coffee into a cup.

-“I see…”

The wind chime on the door made a sound as someone walked inside the café; Joe waved toward the waitress on the other side of the room and sat on the stool near Yevgeny as he greeted Harry with a handshake.

-“You are late as usual Joe”

-“Gomen ne Yev-san, I was attending some urgent matters…” he said coolly checking his mobile for text messages.

-“Urgent matters as in ‘girl issues’?" Yevgeny chuckled as he drank a bit of his coffee.

-“You know how it is…” he said with a big smile.

-“Did you find anything on the guy that came by the other day? Richard told you anything?”

-“Nope, Richard didn’t spill a thing, what do you know about Nessa?”

-“She is getting better thank god”

-“I’m glad…hey Henry can you get me some coffee?” Joe said making a signal to Henry, who nodded in response.

-“Joe, I need to get some stuff on the back first if you don’t mind…” Harry said as he walked toward the coffee maker.

-“Sure thing my man…no hurries”

-“Alright Joe, spill it…”

-“Since Richard didn’t let go of any information I turned to my friend Mara at intel (Yevgeny rolled his eyes, Joe laughed) No man, take it easy, Mara is cool, anyways…since I’m the nice guy of the bunch, she gave me this (Joe handed an envelope over to Yevgeny) apparently this is some info they have gathered up ‘till today…not much, but it should give us a clue…”

-“Thanks Joe, I wonder why no one can’t tell us anything…” Yevgeny said putting the envelope inside his jacket pocket.

-“Dunno, maybe he is waiting to be sure of something…god knows…”

-“Here you go mate, your coffee” Harry said as he put a cup of coffee in front of Joe.

-“Thanks my man, you are a saint” Joe smiled broadly.

Witold unwrapped the bandages around Nessa’s right leg, she winced a bit as he passed his hand lightly over he wound, he looked up to her face quickly as he felt her wince and moved his hand away from the leg quickly.

-“It’s ok Wit…” She said calmly, putting a brave face.

-“You can tell me it hurts you know…it is not like I can’t feel it anyways” he said with a smile as he put his hand over the wound again. She winced a little but he didn’t move his hand this time, a soft white light emerged from his hand over her leg. Nessa relaxed as she felt the pain go away little by little.

-“Better?” He asked smiling a little.

-“Yes, thank you…I feel much better now…”

-“I think you are ready for a walk, you are healed enough to do so…”

-“Really??? (her eyes lit up) you are finally letting me out of the room?”

-“Oh don’t be such a drama queen, you were injured pretty badly you know…you are still as fierce in battle as always, you should think a bit more of yourself when you fight”

-“Like count my losses or something? You know that it is not happening…”

-“But since you have people to take care of and that depend somewhat on you, you should…”

-“I know I should take care of myself and I think Alex knows the risks of our line of work…I think you know them as well…”

-“And it is because I know them that I say this to you…”

-“Is that the reason you went away?” she said suddenly.

He looked at her with sadness in his eyes; he looked away the second her eyes looked at his own. She grabbed his chin gently, making him look at her, and smiled.

-“It’s ok, I’m not mad at you…”

-“Gomen ne…” he said in a whisper.

-“Why are you sorry?”

-“For many things (he looked away for a second) I didn’t know many things back then Nessa…”

-“Like what?”

He took a deep breath as he was getting ready to answer her when Alex spoke suddenly.

-“Mamma?” he said while walking groggily toward Nessa’s bed. Witold laughed a little while Nessa stroke Alex’s hair.

-“Want to go for that walk?” Witold said with a smile.

-“Sure, I’ll get ready.” She said smiling broadly, then she covered Alex with the blanket and got up from the bed.

____End of part III_______

-“I had lost track of time being inside the apartment…” Nessa said smiling a little as she walked beside Witold. He smiled in return with his eyes closed.

It was a beautiful night in Juuban, Witold and Nessa walked as they talked about everything and nothing. Nessa told him about her studies, Witold told her about his life in Poland.

The wind made a trail of sakura leaves in front of them suddenly, Nessa giggles at them, she moved her hands slightly and the changed its course in the air, waltzing beside them as happily as children running in the park.

Witold laughed heartily, he looked at her and smiled and said in a whisper:

-“Thank you…it was one of the things I missed from here...” He grabbed one of the sakura petals and held it in his hand.

-“Oh? Only the leaves?” she said in mock shock and pout, he laughed in response.

-“That…and I missed you Nessa…” He blushed suddenly

Yevgeny sat in a bench overlooking a lake. He had still in his hands the envelope Joe gave him, unopened yet unsealed. His hand trembled a little.

-“Whatever this means, it can’t be that bad right?” He said to himself in the immensity of the night.

He looked up toward the sky, toward the stars.

-“I can’t read them like Nessa does, but I sure hope I find some answers and guidance with them” he kneeled on the ground and made drawings with his hand, not visible to anybody but himself. He chanted something resembling a prayer and closed his eyes.

In the sky above him, the stars moved in imaginary patterns, some glowed, some faded, they all moved in unison, portraying the desired message.

Nessa looked away for a moment concerned, Witold noticed and asked:

-“What’s wrong?" She looked back at him and smiled.

-“No, nothing just got myself out of the loop as I sometimes do” she said nervously.

He lifted his eyebrow as if not believing her, but he let it slide and resumed his conversation with a smile.

Yevgeny walked toward his home thinking about what he had seen in the stars. He got out his cell phone and started writing some text messages. It had been hours after he read the messages from the stars; it was late night.

A reply got his attention.

He stopped in his tracks and looked behind him, he saw a figure in a trench coat smoking a cigarette, its small red light and smoke were the only thing Yevgeny could see at the distance that he was, the figure walked closer to him.

-“I’m not even sure what that information means, but I suppose you have some answers now” said Richard as the light from the street played on his face as he walked closer to Yevgeny.
-“Da (he nodded) it doesn’t look good, but I’m hoping I made some mistakes at my reading, after all Nessa is the master at reading the stars...” he said somewhat hopeful

In another place, at the same time, Witold and Nessa laid down on a grass field. They were laughing and looking at the sky; his hand embraced hers close to his heart, while the other pointed at some stars in the sky.

Behind them Charles Daniel sat and laughed with them. Nessa held out her hand toward Charles’ and grabbed it. It was all like it was before, it was like a good dream, one of those dreams that you didn’t want to wake up from.

It was the year 20-06, three years after the war with Demian. The team is almost completely reunited, and a new time has come, new trials, new battles, but they are together now, let's hope they survive.

Chapter VI: Save my life.

Morning broke in the city, the birds started to make their usual rounds in the neighborhoods, it all seemed quiet and peaceful.

Nessa awoke suddenly in her bedroom, looked around to see no one beside her nor around in the room, the last thing she remembered was being in the park with both Charles Daniel's spirit and Witold, after that is some sort of blur.

-"Was it a dream then?" she asked softly.

She got up and grabbed her robe that sat in the nearby chair and went out of the room having a feeling that someone she knew was nearby as if feeling the presence or that person very close to her.

The apartment seemed quiet, she walked toward Alex's room and peeked inside, he laid asleep on his bed, all covers thrown on the floor. She smiled in amusement and went inside the room picking them up and put them on the bed again, covering the young boy. She got out of the room and walked toward the kitchen.

She heard the sound of the wind coming from the window, she closed her eyes feeling the wind surround her...she felt a presence, harmless toward her, but she felt weary of it. Then she heard the doorbell, which took her out of her reverie.

-"In a minute!" she yelled toward the door, as she quickly went to her room to change into something more visit worthy.

She opened the door to find Yevgeny at her doorstep, he said hello and she told him to go inside the apartment.

-"I need to ask you something...that and I came to check on you.." He said with a small smile. She smiled and greeted him and motioned him to sit on the living room couch.

-"What is troubling you my friend?"

-"I did a star reading last night...I saw some things...but...you know you are the one that can confirm what i saw..."

-"Ok, not a problem...show me..." Yevgeni closed his eyes, concentrating in the images he saw last night, trying to tell her, to show her in her mind what he had seen.

Nessa saw in her head pictures and scenes, the night as star of that wicked movie Yevgeni was showing her, she saw Witold fighting and getting hurt badly, she saw Joe and Alex in the verge of tears. Richard running away with Yevgeni at his side. She saw herself dead on the ground, a man at her side crying and holding her. She saw many more things, things that made tears fall from her face, that made her feel great pain in her chest.

Her breath was ragged, she was losing air, she felt as if being drowned. She tried to yell or cry for help but couldn't, the magnitude of the images and feelings were too great. She only managed to grab Yevegeni's hand tighter, hurting it with her nails. Yevgeni opened his eyes suddenly breaking his trance and gasped.

-"Nessa?! Nessa!..." He said grabbing her shoulders, but she didn't seem to stop crying, her pain was too great in her heart, her mind telling her things, many voices, many screams, tears. Suddenly she colapsed on the couch. Alex yelled from his doorway and ran to her side, Yevgeni held her, trying to make her come to.

-"What happened?!!?!?!" Alex yelled.

-"She was watching my star reading...but..I think she saw more than I did!" Yevgeni replied.

-"Call someone...call Witold...anybody!!" he said grabbing Nessa's hand. Yevgeny dialed his phone inmediately, suddenly, her hand moved. They both stopped what they were doing in an instant, Nessa groaned and opened her eyes slowly. She muttered something the boys not understanding at first.

-"Help me get up" she whispered, Alex helped her sit on the couch, Yevgeni checked her pulse on her wrist and sighed in relief.

-"What the hell happened?!?!?!" Alex said to her frantic.

-"I guess I wasn't as recuperated as I thought I was..." She said smiling slightly.

-"You scared me mama..." Alex said hugging her tight almost in tears, she hugged him back with equal force, Yevgeni joined them, apologizing to her.

-"No need Yev...I thought I could handle it...I guess I'm getting old" she said laughing slightly.

-"You have been fighting so much lately...I should have waited but I thought I..." Yevgeni said in a whisper. Nessa shook her head.

-"Nothing I can't handle, I'm just still a bit weak...it happens..." she said calmly. In her mind, millions of thoughts came to be, questions that needed answers, worries about her friends and herself, for the first time in a long time...Nessa felt afraid.

____End of part I_______

It was mid afternoon in Shibu, a man walked the streets with a smile in his face, his brown hair playing in the wind, he closed his eyes to feel the fresh city air as he listened to his music through his headphones, full blast with some Sonata Arctica on his iPod. He strolled through town marveling at how it looks and feels. He got into a cab onto Juuban, where his home lay, and where his mates are. He smiled as the cab drove him around the city, he had been gone for a while, and he was happy to be back.

The taxi left him on his apartment building, he looked at the surroundings of his building with a smile and proceeded to go inside. He said 'hello' to the doorman and to the recepcionist as he walked the carpeted floor toward the elevator. He rode it humming a song, whistling slightly.

Inside his apartment he threw the keys onto the nearby table, still whistling, he went toward the phone to check his messages.

-"Hi honey, it's mom...just saying hi, call when you can sweetie" a woman said in Russian. Next message, he smiled.

-"Hey Aleksandr!! I know you come back this week, please call me to go partyyyyy, Yevgeni needs to go down parteh, he has been uptight! we miss ya man!!!!" said Joe Armand in a slurry drunk voice and he heard Yevgeni scolding Joe for saying he was uptight, Aleksandr laughed at the message and kept listening for more.

Aleksandr Maldievich, 'the dreamweaver', had come back after working in legal procedures around the globe for Koba, he had been gone for almost a year, missing what has been going on at least in person.

He threw his bag into his room and went to the kitchen to make some coffee. He kept listening to the messages on his phone as he worked around in his kitchen, there was one message that made him stop in his tracks.

-"As you may know, things are good I guess, the usual craziness and weirdness, I don't call you on your mobile 'cause what you need to know right now is a home matter and we would deal with it when you come back...when you get this please gimme a call mate but something tells me you already know what I have to tell you...cheers." Said Richard calmly in his English accent, you could tell he was smoking as he spoke.

Aleksandr turned toward the phone, he almost dropped his cup of coffee in surprise. He has been dreaming about the attacks and other dreadful things for weeks, but never thought they would occur. His head filled with worry for his friends, he grabbed his mobile inmediately and dialed for Richard in a hurry.

Night came in and with it, its clear sky. Nessa walked through Juuban toward the Cemetery. It was thursday night, and as each thursday, Nessa went to the cemetery. She opened the huge doors and went inside, she greeted the dead that laid on the ground, some even may think that they greeted her back, for Nessa sees and hears the dead.

She walked slowly, as if always pondering something, her black skirt playing in the wind a little and hair playing along, the night greeted her in such an unusual place for a girl her age, some might think or ponder, but no, Nessa was no stranger in that land. Nessa finally got where she wanted to go, Charles Daniel's resting place.

She smiled and kneeled to dust off some fallen leaves from the tombstone with a spell controlling a gust of wind, she sang as she did so, as she usually did. She then sat down leaning toward it.

-"You can come out now..." She said with a smile.

-"Hello Nessa dear..." Said Charles sitting beside her, smiling a little.

-"I need to ask the dead a question..." she said calmly, looking at the stars as she spoke.

-"Tell me.." He smiled at her.

-"Yevgeni did a star reading, not a precise one, but enough for me to guess...I want to know something..."

-"Yevgeni? his powers are increasing...such as yours...I'm glad" Charles said with an air of nostalgia, she nodded and smiled slightly.

-"Do you know what i am going to ask you?" Charles nodded.

-"The dead can't answer that...not yet Nessa..." Charles said firmly.

-"Charles...I need to know...I don't want the surprise..."
she pushed him to answer her with her thoughts with a hint of frustration and fatigue.

-"I can't!...what did he see?!"
he said desperately.

"-We die! death comes for us and we can't stop it Charles!...like I couldn't stop yours..."
she said almost in tears, tired and frustrated, the last phrase in a whisper.

-"I wouldn't have let you..." Charles said in a whisper and suddenly disappeared, leaving Nessa beside the tombstone, tears falling from her face, but refusing to make a sound, refusing to really cry. The wind blew around her, making a howling sound, she knew she was alone, except for the company of the other dead souls, but felt utterly alone without consolation at that moment.

She whispered suddenly...

-"I can't hear you....not right now..." the wind howled louder, she shook her head 'no', but she looked up from the ground and she saw the figure of a man, she blinked a few times to try and see who it was. She got up from the ground, the wind played around her, soundless, she gasped as she finally distinguished who it was and started her walk toward the man.

The man started to walk toward her as well, she suddenly started running toward him and when she got to him she embraced him tightly, she called his name in his embrace and he held her tightly, her tears fled down her face, but she never made a sound for them.

-"You see me die..." she whispered as her tears stained his shirt.

-"Nothing is absolute, remember that" Aleksandr replied firmly but soothing, he held her as he felt her inner strength fading, he felt her emotional turmoil, her doubts, her fears, all into one hurting him a little, but still he held onto her trying to absorb it all, relieve her of some of it at least. Aleksandr Maldievich had come to her aid.

-"Whatever I have seen and heard, it can all be changed...we have the upper hand now, don't you dare lose hope, we are all here now, the team is complete...we can beat this!" he said trying to calm her with his words. She did not make a sound, but her tears flowed still.

The wind played around them both, making a soft howling sound. He stayed with her in the cemetery, he joined her in her dealings with the dead that night, always watching, always holding her hand when she needed strength to ask the dead about the questions in her head.

He stayed and watched it all and how her energy was drained as she spoke with each dead soul.

Charles Daniel didn't go back to his grave that night, and Nessa never knew where he went, but she waited for him as well.

___End of part II_______

Witold took a sip from his cup of coffee looking at the city from over his balcony. Routine going around him on the streets and the sky oblivious to the battles recently fought or the inminent danger that the Kobayashi gang was about to face. The city welcomed Witold into a new morning, and his troubled mind.

He smiled as he felt the wind surround him and closed his eyes.

-"You control the wind...no Nessa? (he asked to no one) the wind is calling...but who answers it?" he said to himself as he drank another sip from his cup of coffee.

He smiled as he saw the sakura leaves dance with the wind suddenly, and went inside his room to pickup his jacket from a nearby chair. He looked back toward the balcony, seeing the sakura leaves play still in the wind, then he left the room.

Nessa stirred slightly and opened her eyes to see the beautiful blue morning, she smiled slightly and stretched her arms. She noticed she had as a cover a jacket that wasn't hers, she quickly looked around her to find Aleksandr lying down beside her, still sleeping near Charles Daniel's grave.

She smiled as she saw Aleksandr fast asleep still even with the sun blaring upon them. She sat up on the floor, her back to the tombstone. She closed her eyes and smiled.

-"You can come out now Charlie..." and beside her sat Charles Daniel.

-"Good morning Nessa dear..." he said softly.

-"Morning..." she said nonchalantly.

-"My apologies for leaving yesterday so...unexpected.." he said shyly.

-"No need to apologize Charlie..."

-"I still can't tell you what I know...although my guess is that the dreamweaver will fill you in due time..."

-"The dreamweaver can tell me things, but the dead travel the obscure, the dead allow me to see intention and behavior more clearly..." she said moving a strand of hair from Aleksandr's face.

-"That young man right there...knows more than meets the eye, remember that..." said Charles Daniel smiling, getting up from the floor and walking away waving a 'goodbye'. Nessa waved back with a smile.

Kenji Koba looked at the city from his office, savouring the traits that it showed, sipping a bit of tea as he did so. A knock on his door brought him back from his reverie looking toward it seeing Richard bowing slightly, walking into his office.

-"Yes Richard (he said with a smile) how are you my boy?" he said greeting Richard shaking his hand.

-"Alright sir...considering the situation..." Richard said sitting down in a nearby chair.

-"Yes, have you got new intel on who might be behind all this?"

-"Not clear sir, many factions can be behind this but none of them has claimed responsability. We are still looking and for the time being I have instructed the team to be on guard at all times. Specially after Yevgeni's readings we saw the other day sir..."

Koba turned back to the view of the city, sighing, he took another sip of his tea.

-"This are hard times my friend, humanity has proven to have enormous capacity for building and union, but also to destroy and divide. Even as everything seems peaceful and nonchalant at the moment. Deep down human beings have a battle to either join good or evil and exploit them within themselves. Exploit the hate among others as well and attack without having a mindless clue as to why..."

-"My goal is to avoid another war for the team...it would be devastating for them..."

-"Alas we are not subject only to wars among people that use the craft as weapons, but as to people without it...humanity sometimes is so dense...
(he then turned back toward Richard) my petition to you is to keep them safe...and keep them together...many trials await them and without each other they won't survive"
Richard nodded and bowed.

Aleksandr and Nessa walked the streets of Juuban, holding a cup of coffee in hand, talking about general issues regarding their lives.

-"I missed this (Aleksandr said taking a sip from his coffee) these city's mornings are magnificent, the sakura leaves dancing in the air, the clear skies...the busy people on the streets, hey even the traffic seems like an orquestrated incident..."

-"You went away for too long" she said with a smile.

-"True that, next time I'm telling Richard to get me at least one of you guys to accompany me..."

-"Oh really...who would that be?"

-"Hmmm...someone that likes to enjoy a good cup of coffee and exploring cities and new places..." he said looking at her with a playful smile. She laughed heartily.

He laughed along for bit, then he suddenly turned into a serious tone of voice.

-"I heard Witold came back..." he said almost in a whisper, as if being afraid of her reaction.

-"Yes...(she looked at him with a shy smile) he did..."

-"And...(he looked at her shyly) how are things with him?" She looked at him puzzled.

-"What 'things'? You don't know Witold?"

-"I was kinda guessing he would get his mind together to at least ask you out on a date..." she laughed a little.

-
"We are not dating if that is what you are asking...when he left he kinda closed the door on that one, if he wants to have a relationship he shows no signs of it..." Aleksandr looked up at the sky and smiled a little.

-"Do you want to...have a relationship with him...after all this time?" he asked shyly, she looked at him with a smile and mockingly lifting an eyebrow.

-"Mighty curious aren't we?" she said with a smile.

-"Just asking a normal question..." he said looking away whistling slightly.

Nessa felt the air heavy around her. She stopped walking suddenly and looked around, Aleksandr followed her motion, looking at her puzzled.

-"Nessa..?"

-"Go...(she said in a whisper) run Alek..."

-"I'm not leaving you here..." he said taking her hand.

-"Go!..." she said the cup of coffee falling from her other hand as she tumbled a bit. Aleksandr held her not knowing what was going on.

-"Nessa!!" he said as she started mumbling something, Aleksandr looked around them, everything seemed to stop around them, he was feeling more and more puzzled. Nessa mumbled what appeared to be a spell and the wind started to play around them both.

Aleksandr held her closer as he felt the wind's strength around him.
-"You are not getting me out of here....I'm staying with you damn it!" he said to her as he held her closer.

The wind roared around them, and suddenly they were gone.

___End of part III_____

Nessa and Aleksandr appeared inside a temple, as the locals would call it. Aleksandr looked around them for any signs of danger but found none, he then turned toward Nessa...

-"Nessa...are you alright? (he said still holding her, she nodded slightly, she hadn't said a word since they arrived) moonlight district..." he then whispered to himself.

-"A temple that hasn't lost its seal...(Aleksandr turned toward her again suddenly with the face of confusion on him, she laughed slightly as she got up from the floor) churches and holy places have seals to avoid demons or bad spirits inside of them, it is some sort of reform of the holy ground pact that bad guys have, that is bad guys that run from the law..." Aleksandr nodded at her response and mumbled a spell and got out his broadsword.

-"Even so, whatever you felt won't be too happy we ran..." he said going toward the door, opening it a little to check outside surroundings.

-"'They' shouldn't come inside...or too near..."

-"But last time you were in a church, how is it they got in?" he asked still glued to the door in a defensive stance.

-"Abandoned church, no seal to keep...too many years gone by since someone took care of it, eventually the seal breaks..." she said going toward the altar of the church and kneeled on the floor putting her right hand over it, the floor glowed as she started mumbling a protection spell.

-"You worry too much..." he said with a chuckle

-"I know you are used to battles, but I can't help it, so deal with it..." she said as she casted a protection spell on Aleksandr.

Joe, Yevgeni and Alex drove around the city toward Moonlight district, Joe sped around the highway as Alex, with eyes closed, mumbled a spell.

-"Dude you freak me out when you do that...(Joe said avoiding traffic jams and weird pedestrians) anything Yevgeni as to who is messing around with us this time?"

-"No comrade, Alek doesn't know yet..."

-"That boy should get into your head when he knows, not when he doesn't!" said Joe desperate as he drove around the highway.

Aleksandr notices movement outside of the temple, he sighed in frustration and looked briefly toward Nessa, who was still at the altar of the church casting spells.

-"'They' are here..."

-"I guess there's no choice ne?" she said looking at him sadly as she got up from the floor and walked toward him.

-"I'm not afraid princess..." he said with a sad smile.

-"Well let's get to it..." she said opening fully the doors of the church and with a spell getting out a sword.

Nessa gasped as she saw a man laughing outside the church in the yard, she hesitated a little at first then walked out with her sword raised. Aleksandr followed her, the doors closing behind them.

-"The name of the game is...Kill..." the man said with a coy smile.

-"Good, then you know how you end up.." Nessa said putting herself in a defensive stance, the man laughed.

Aleksandr stood in front of her, his sword ready for battle.

-"Oh my, Aleksandr you should know better..." the man laughed as he turned around to walk away from the church slightly.

-"So should you..." he said in a tone Nessa nor anybody had heard in a while, Aleksandr seemed ready for the kill.

-"Oo feisty!"

With that the man with a move of his hand pushed Nessa away with a spell, she was thrown into the doors of the temple, but not a sound came out of her, she got up slowly but steady. Aleksandr started his parry with the man, each blow filled with rage.

Yevgeny, Joe and Alex still drove toward the site of the fight. Joe cursed as the traffic was getting on his nerves, Yevgeny fought to keep him calm. Alex suddenly opened his eyes.

-"No! not him!!" Alex screamed and Joe almost lost control of his car and cursed in several languages. Alex looked at Yevgeni with teary eyes, they both said in unison:

-"Samael..." Joe hit the breaks suddenly.

Nessa parried with Samael as Aleksandr got up from the floor with the help of his sword and attacked Samael. Samael pushed Nessa away with his sword and she casted a spell to try and push him away from Aleksandr.

Aleksandr span trying to hurt Samael on his legs with his sword, but Samael avoided him almost with ease. Nessa casted a spell and the wind circled around Samael making him blind as she tried to thrust her sword into his waist but he blocked her attack and Aleksandr tried in her stead managing to hurt Samael drawing some blood out of him on his side.

-"Damn it boy! Demian should have killed you all!" He then in a fit of rage threw Aleksandr toward the door of the church, Nessa screamed in fear for him as she looked at him chrash onto the doors of the church.

-"I'm ok...." he said into her mind softly. Samael then grabbed Nessa by her neck, she tried casting a spell to get away but failed.

-"No tricks..." Samael said with a menacing voice, Nessa fought to get away but failed, hurting herself more, she whimpered closing her eyes.

-"Yo...Samael!!" Aleksandr yelled from afar, Samael rose his eyes as he saw a dagger go toward him at great speed. Samael's eyes widened.

The sound of 'Thud' filled the air...

____End of part IV____

The sound of 'thud' was heard as Yevgeni and the rest of the team arrived at the scene. Alex readied his bow and arrow and held still, Joe Armand looked at Yevgeni in disbelief.

-"That dude...it is really Samael?"

-"I can't see very well..." Yevgeni said to Joe nervous and unable to run further. Alex fired an arrow toward Samael and this burned to the ground when it approached him.

-"You actually think that you can hurt me child?!" said Samael suddenly moving his hand and sending Alex toward the nearest tree in a big chrash. Nessa yelled but was unable to move so she managed to kneel on the ground gasping for air as she saw Alex chrash into the tree. Aleksandr ran to her protection as Samael got the dagger that Aleksandr threw out of his arm and tried to hurt Nessa with it.

Aleksandr's sword clashed with the dagger in a defensive stance. Samael threw the dagger away as Aleksandr kept attacking him in a wild rage, Samael kept defending himself but tired and hardly able to keep up.

Yevgeni ran toward Alex with Joe Armand following close behind, they helped Alex get up from the floor slowly.

-"Kid! kid man, answer me...are you allright?" Joe Armand asked checking Alex's pulse.

-"Im allright..." he barely made out in a whisper.

-"Nice aim tho..." Yevgeni said smiling sadly.

-"Nessa mamma..." Alex whispered slightly.

-"C'mon kid, lets help your mom..." Joe grabbed Alex in his arms and casted a teleport spell for him. Alex was engulfed with a blue light and suddenly disappeared. Joe Armand walked toward Yevgeni.

-"So what do we do mate?" Joe asked looking at Aleksandr still battle Samael and Nessa getting up slowly from the ground. Yevgeni looked at Joe and smiled.

-"How many minutes you think it will take to get him?"

Witold carried Alex toward a spare bedroom in his apartment, he had healed any visible wound and checked him for inner injuries and he was clear, the boy slept in his arms peacefully. Richard waited in the hall trying to light a cigarette but failing. Witold came out of the room and walked toward the door of the apartment, Richard then following close behind.

-"This has to end now..." Witold said desperate.

Yevgeni and Joe Armand parried with Samael as they sang in unison, it was their way of fighting together. Aleksandr helped Nessa get up from the ground and whispered something in her ear, she nodded slightly and she grabbed her sword from the ground.

-"I have to end this..." she said in a monotone voice, a voice Aleksandr knew well, the voice of Nadzieja, the warrior, the mage. He knew she was planning to do something drastic.

-"We have to end it...it is not your fight alone, not anymore." he said grabbing her arm. She smiled and whispered something to him, he gasped and he let her arm go.

Yevgeni and Joe both blocked an attack from Samael, Nessa ran toward him and attacked from behind, him blocking her slightly managed to receive a small damage on his back. Samael yelled in pain and tossed Nessa to the ground in rage.

Aleksandr joined and kept attacking Samael along with Yevgeni and Joe Armand. Nessa got up from the ground slowly with the help of her sword, she began to cast a spell, the wind blew softly toward the men fighting near her. Aleksandr fell to the ground as Samael hit him hard on his right arm, Yevgeni was blown far away and Joe Armand tried to block Samael's sword in vain, he too was thrown away.

Nessa then dug her sword into Samael's back, not letting go of her sword, she kept casting the spell as Samael yelled in pain. Aleksandr yelled toward her begging her to run away, to stop but to no avail, she kept casting as the wind grew stronger around them both. Aleksandr slowly getting up from the floor, tired and hurt, as Nessa kept casting the spell the wind growing stronger and Samael yelling even more.

-"You stupid child! You have no power against me!" Samael said as he also began casting a spell in response.

Yevgeni and Joe looked in disbelief as Aleksandr held Nessa from behind in a embrace, pleading with her to let go of the sword. Joe starting casting a spell to help her, so did Yevgeni closing their eyes. Samael tried to block them but without success, giving Nessa a little bit more of strength.

Aleksandr still pleading with her as he embraced her.

-"I may not help you with a spell, but I won't let you die..." he whispered in her ear as he held her more tightly.

She yelled in pain as Samael disappeared leaving her, Aleksandr and the sword collapsed on the ground and blood came from underneath them.
